Academic Benchmarks is a highly profitable, small company that provides services for most of the leading K-12 education technology and publishing companies in the US. We’ve spent the last 10 years building a solid portfolio of clients and a substantial amount of valuable intellectual property in our quest to help users address the complexities of accurately describing educational resources for search and alignment. Our efforts have helped K-12 teachers across the country find the resources they need to ensure their students’ success.
Now we are ready to throw some gasoline on this nicely burning bonfire of an opportunity to rapidly increase our growth trajectory. To do so, we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer that shares our passion for bringing innovative solutions to the education space to join the team and help bring new products to market.
Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including the architecture of solutions, creation of design documentation, actual coding and developing test plans.
Provide accurate development estimates and deliver projects on schedule.
Help provide leadership to the team and mentor more junior programmers.
Value the importance of understanding client need and be creative about solving their problems.
Stay current on the latest technologies and best practices in development and constantly be looking for ways to improve the quality of the team.
Be pleasant and/or fun to work with.
Looking for solid talent and some applied experience.
We use the following technologies so it would be advantageous if you have experience with these:
PERL 5 (we’ll also consider experience with PHP, Python or Ruby), HTTP/REST, AJAX, HTML5, CSS, XML/JSON, MySQL, and mod_perl/Apache 2.
