Taxonomies add a contextual framework and relevance to learning standards. Academic Benchmarks has developed and applied a variety of taxonomies to all supported learning standards within the Academic Benchmarks Standards Registry, enabling meaningful interactions with standards, based on a user's needs and purpose.

Academic Benchmarks has developed a number of connected taxonomies that increase the accessibility of education resources and standards relevant to your needs. Take advantage of AB taxonomies (listed below) via AB Tools or AB Web Services API:

redgearAcademic Benchmarks Common Terms Catalog (AB CTC)
This is the original AB taxonomy of skills and concepts that is grade agnostic and subject specific. Ideal for a high-level suggestion of related items or for use as a controlled-vocabulary for keyword tagging of educational resources.

greengearAcademic Benchmarks Chains
Two or more AB CTCs representing discreet skills and concepts that make up a learning standard. If you are bogged down by commas and conjunctions, this is the taxonomy for you.

goldgearAcademic Benchmarks TARGETs
The AB CTC is a multi-level taxonomy. The AB TARGETs present the CTC in a two-level hierarchy for a quick entry point into the CTC.

redgearAB Frameworks
The AB Frameworks collect the supported core-4 learning standards into common objective statements, allowing easy access to similar learning standards in all states, DC and the Common Core State Standards.

greengearAB Topic Taxonomy
An educator-friendly core-4 taxonomy comprised of topics and sub-topics, the AB Topic Taxonomy is ideal for quickly linking resources to relevant standards to support web search or marketing purposes.

goldgearCustom Taxonomy Development
AB can ingest and connect existing taxonomies to the AB Standards Registry as well as augment existing taxonomies or create custom taxonomies to support your particular implementation or development needs.
